Land Stewardship Project
The mission of the Land Stewardship Project is to foster an ethic of stewardship for farmland, to promote sustainable agriculture and to develop sustainable communities.
Illinois Farm Beginnings
Illinois Farm Beginnings™ is a successful, farmer-led training and support program designed to help people plan and launch farm businesses that are economically and environmentally sustainable.
The Farm Beginnings program links farmer-trainees with successful entrepreneurial farmers via coursework, mentoring, and working farm field days. In its first year in Illinois (2005-2006), the course graduated over 50 new farmers, meeting a need for training unmet anywhere else in the state, while also beginning to meet the ever-increasing consumer demand for local, delicious, sustainably-raised foods.
The Land Connection
The Land Connection is working to create a food system that is truly sustainable --
- enabling farmers to make a living without handouts, and one that allows them to pass their farm on to the next generation
- connecting food producers and consumers in a direct and compelling way
- preserving and enhancing the quality of the soil, air, and water on which all life depends
Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service
The Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service (MOSES) is a 501(c)3 education-outreach organization working to promote sustainable and organic agriculture. MOSES serves farmers striving to produce high-quality, healthful food using organic & sustainable techniques. These farmers produce more than just food--they support thriving ecosystems and vibrant rural communities.
